Hilton Hawaiian Village, Waikiki

Have you ever dreamt of going on a submarine? Have you ever been on a submarine and want to share that experience with your family and friends? I know, living-it-up in Oahu, at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, is easy and fun and full of exciting entertainment, try to venture out to Atlantis Submarines one day. It is just five minutes from the resort. This is an amazing underwater adventure you will never forget!
In 1994, the founder and president of Atlantis Submarines, Dennis Hurd, launched the Atlantis XIV off the coast of Oahu. The Atlantis XIV is his and the world’s largest passenger submarine. Mr. Hurd and his team have a special love and respect for Oahu and have worked diligently to rebuild the underwater reef structures. Since hurricanes of the past have destroyed the protective coral cover, they have mixed these artificial reefs with nature to protect and bring the marine life back to the Atlantis Reef.
Diving more than one hundred feet below, you will get a very close view of the unique marine life of Waikiki. The Atlantis XIV is a safety-first, spacious, air-conditioned state of the art vessel. This sixty four passenger sub with huge portholes will allow you to see the beautiful and colorful fish, green sea turtles, sharks, corals, and much much more. Visit sunken ships, airliners, and natural formations full of marine life. Experience the wonders of this dreamy underwater world and cherish these memories for a lifetime. This narrated voyage is a must-do!

Surf Lessons

E HEʻENALU KĀKOU! – “Let’s Surf!”
The Hilton Grand Vacation Club Hawaiian Village is on Waikiki’s widest stretch of white sand beach with the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon. This is the birthplace of surfing.

If you want to learn how to surf, there really is no better place than Waikiki. The waves are normally gentle rollers that offer a smooth, long ride. Also, there are no vicious undertows or rogue waves in this protected bay. It is because of the excellent surfing conditions in Waikiki that surfing legends like the famous Duke Kahanamoku used the surf in Waikiki as a personal surfing playground.

Surf lessons in Waikiki are without a doubt one of the most popular activities in Hawaii. Learning to surf in Waikiki is a unique and fun experience, lessons are offered for all skill levels. If you have never been on a surfboard in your life, or even if you have some experience in surfing, Waikiki Beach is the place to be.

Lanikai Beach Makes CNN’s top 10 Beaches

LanikaiBeach

CNN has released their list of “Top 10 beaches in the World,” and Concierge Realty is excited to announce that one of our favorite locations made it onto the list! Hawaii’s island of Oahu is represented by Lanikai beach, which ranked 8th in CNN’s ranking, and was the only beach in the United States to make the top 10.

In the native Hawaiian language, the word “Lanikai” means “heavenly sea”. This is the perfect name for this perfect beach. Warm and gentle waters meet a white sand beach in tiny waves of turquoise and cerulean. The waves are accompanied by light trade winds which create a cooling effect during a hot day on this popular island. The beach is great for relaxing on the sand or taking a swim in the crystal-clear water. Located on Oahu’s Windward coast, Lanikai Beach is a popular place to unwind. Be sure to bring your swimsuits and snorkel gear to enjoy a day at the beach that you will never forget.

In addition to Lanikai Beach, Oahu is also home to the famous beaches of Honolulu and Waikiki, and all three are within a short drive of each other. Are you interested in visiting these awesome vacation destinations? Fortunately, Concierge Realty has residences available in this area. One of our clients’ favorites is Marriott Ko Olina. This amazing resort sports a lush 642-acre gated community and seven glistening lagoons. Guests enjoy swimming in the lagoon pools, golfing at the Ko Olina Golf Course, unwinding at the spa, and dining in style. In addition Concierge Realty also has residences available at a variety of other resorts, including Hilton Grand Vacation club resorts and Diamond resorts in the area.

How to Save on Your Timeshare Vacation Rental

save-on-timeshare-rental

There are several simple strategies that allow travelers to avoid paying too much for your dream vacation. The biggest is to reserve as a timeshare rental rather than reserving through the developer. Guests can save up to 60%.

Another option to consider would be planning travel during “off-peak” times of the year. In the vacation industry, off-peak weeks for warm-weather destinations, such as Hawaii or the U.S. Virgin Islands, will typically be during May, September, October and early November. If you are planning a colder climate trip, such as a ski trip to Aspen or Vail, your best bet would be to plan your vacation during the late spring or early summer. By booking a timeshare rental during these times, vacationers can get away with paying the price of a hotel room, and be able to stay in a luxurious residence with more space and accommodations.

Besides price, another key advantage of booking during off-peak times will be the ability to have greater access to amenities and activities once guests arrive at their destination. Many exclusive recreation companies, golf clubs, and upscale restaurants at the desired location may require reservations a significant amount of time before the date of the excursion. By booking during off-peak times, the schedules of these institutions will also open up, allowing for greater flexibility of schedule, and the ability to get the most out of the vacation.

Once you and your party have decided what dates work for them and are ready to schedule, there are a few other details to keep in mind as you negotiate price. If the price offered for your time is still a little more than you would like to spend, try scheduling your arrival date as either a Friday or a Sunday, and see if the rate decreases. Additionally, see if the timeshare rental could accommodate your travel party with less rooms. For example, a family of four may ask for a one-bedroom residence instead of a two-bedroom. Keep in mind these residences will typically be more spacious than a hotel room, so your group will still have enough space to spread out. By cutting down on bedrooms, you have the ability to greatly decrease your costs.

Our last, but perhaps most important piece of advice would be to make sure you work with a reputable broker whose credentials and credibility you can check with Better Business Bureau, State Licensing Bureau, etc. Make sure to maintain your best business sense, and don’t fall in love with a rental that seems too good to be true, or do business with a company that you don’t trust. By working with a trustworthy company, you will be able to plan your trip seamlessly and stress-free. The risk of trying to save a few dollars with a less-than-reputable company could result in you and your family and friends showing up to check in for your stay and being unable to, turning your dream vacation into a nightmare. Remember, that if a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is!

That being said, if you keep these tips in mind and are willing to book at the right time and with the right company, there is no reason why you and your fellow vacationers can’t have a great vacation and create lifelong memories.

Kilauea Lighthouse – Kauai, Hawaii

CR-Kilauea-Lighthouse 2
The Kilauea Lighthouse is roughly a 45 minute drive north of Lihue, Hawaii. They have absolutely beautiful views that are sure to impress any Hawaii travelers and should be a top tourist destination.

Located at the northernmost tip of Kauai, the 52-foot Kilauea Lighthouse was built in 1913. However, its light was turned off in the 1970s and has been replaced by an automatic beacon. The Lighthouse has become one of the island’s most frequented attractions.

The view off coastline and the deep-blue Pacific makes this the perfect photo stop.

Golf on Maui

Golfers new to Maui should know that it’s windy here, winds of 10 to 15 mph are the norm.  — the rough is thicker here and the wind will pick your ball up and drop it in very unappealing places (like water hazards).

For last-minute and discount tee times, call Hawaii Stand by Golf (tel. 888/645-2665; www.hawaiistandbygolf.com), which offers savings of up to 50% off greens fees, plus guaranteed tee times for same-day or next-day golfing.

Golf Club Rentals (tel. 808/665-0800; www.mauiclubrentals.com) has custom-built clubs for men, women, and juniors (both right- and left-handed), which can be delivered islandwide; steel clubs are $25 a day and, a full graphite set is $30 a day.

Maui Golf courses worth playing

1.  The Dunes at Maui Lani

http://dunesatmauilani.com/

A Robin Nelson design, not only is affordable no matter what time you play, but it’s a solid test of golf.

The layout takes players on a links-style journey with elevation changes galore. At 6,841 yards, it’s not an overly lengthy course, but from the tips, it’s all the test a player can want.

The par 5s range from short — the 509-yards fourth — to PGA Tour-length — 588 yards on the 18th — and will provide players a variety of shot-making challenges. Going for the green in two on these holes may seem like a good idea, but elevation changes and wind, along with perfectly placed bunkering, might change players’ minds.

Overall, the Dunes at Maui Lani may provide the most bang for your buck on Maui. And it’s a course that will certainly bring you back for more.

2. Kahili Golf Club

http://kahiligolf.com/

This is a picturesque, tree-lined course and is another Nelson design.

With the shorter length, just 6,554 yards from the tips, the course is certainly a layout that lends itself to players of every ability. The par-3 eighth, at 189 yards (from the tips), is one of the most picturesque on the course. The tee shot plays entirely over a pond to a large but undulating green.

3.  Elleair Maui Golf Club

http://elleairmauigolfclub.com/

Elleair Maui Golf Club combines views, elevation changes and large greens on this Bill Newis layout.

On the course, golfers will face 6,801 yards of rolling fairways and greens that are receptive. Their large size, however, will definitely test players’ putting skills. Add in views of the Pacific Ocean, Mt. Haleakala, Molokini and the West Mountains, and players might find it difficult to concentrate on their golf.

4. Pukalani Country Club

Just south of the airport, Pukalani Country Club  is nestled into the hillsides of “Upcountry” Maui. Dramatic views, rolling terrain, elevation changes and tree-lined fairways add up to a golf outing that is well worth the price.

This Bob Baldock designed course is 6,962 yards from the tips, so players can let ‘er rip if they hit it straight. Tree-lined fairways make up for the fact there are no fairway bunkers. But the greens have more than their share of bunkering.

5. Wailea Golf Club’s Old Blue Course

With great views of neighboring islands , Wailea Golf Course  is a nice stroll through one of Maui’s classic old courses, filled with trees and true-rolling greens.

The Jack Snyder designed course  measures 6,765 yards from the tips, but at sea level, players will find it’s a big-hitting test. The par 3s here also provide quite the challenge with water, bunkers and length teaming up to test even the best players.

Family Fun on Maui

1.  The Maui Ocean Center

A 750,000-gallon water tank surrounds you. As you  walk through the acrylic tunnel, you marvel at the manta rays and sharks swimming safely overhead. Voted Hawaii’s top-rated family attraction, is just one of the many family-friendly activities you’ll find on Maui.

2. Snorkeling and Scuba on Maui

Explore the unseen side of Maui under the sea. Snorkel off of Maui’s most pristine beaches or scuba dive around Maui’s most popular reefs to see colorful fish, sea turtles and coral formations.

The small, crescent shaped island of Molokini  off the southwestern coast of Maui is a popular destination for snorkeling and diving.  Molokini is only accessible by a boat tour.

3.  Whale watching on Maui

Maui has some of the best whale watching in the world.  Humpback whales are  drawn to the area’s shallow waters, less than 600 feet deep, making Maui an ideal spot to start your voyage during the winter whale watching season from December to May.

4.  Learn to Surf

On the sunny northwestern side of Maui, surf schools in Lahaina will get you started and steer you away from the reef. Puamana Beach Country Park provides easy waves for beginning and intermediate surfers. Launiupoko State Park, just south of Lahaina offers easy reef waves perfect for beginners. Further south of Lahaina, the beaches of Kiheialso feature smaller waves perfect for your first ride.

5.  Ziplining on Maui

Maui’s newest and longest zipline course, Flyin Hawaiian Zipline has raised the bar to new heights in every imaginable way.

Luau of Hawaii

A luau is a traditional Hawaiian feast and no trip to Hawaii is complete without experiencing  one.  Expect a grand celebration of food, entertainment and learning about Hawaiian and Polynesian culture.

Bring your appetite  you’ll be feasting on a magnificent Hawaiian spread of kalua pig (pork cooked in a traditional pit oven), lau lau (beef, pork, chicken, or fish wrapped in taro leaves) and poi (Polynesian staple starch made of taro).

Listen to the sounds of  contemporary Hawaiian music and chants. Watch Hula dancers dance using  elegant and graceful movements. Many luau also  feature Samoan fire dancers and mesmerizing Tahitian dancers.  You may even get the chance to dance the hula in front of your entire luau.
